Guidelines for return to hiking during the Covid-19 pandemic

In addition to Official Government guidelines we ask all club members to comply with the following.

  • All walks will be planned for areas where suitable car parking is available.
  • There should be no carpooling except for people living in the same house.
  • A two-metre social distancing rule will be strictly complied with at all times, regardless of any official Government reduction. (We will be staying “poles apart”)
  • Walkers should form smaller groups within the main hiking group and they should remain within that same group for the duration of the walk. (contact tracing)
  • Extra care should be taken at tea stops in order to maintain our “poles apart” rule.
  • There should be no unnecessary delaying at meet up, start of walk or finish of walk. Come along, take part and go home.
  • Every walker should carry a face mask, at least one pair of latex gloves and some hand sanitizer, as part of their kit.
  • Walkers should not share any equipment, food, drinks etc, except in a case of emergency.
  • A person showing any signs or symptoms of a cold, flu or general feeling of unwellness should not come on a walk. hse.ie/conditions/coronavirus/symptoms.html
  • There should be no joint walks with other clubs during the pandemic.
  • Please be aware that the virus still exists. Your immunity hasn’t changed. There is no cure and no vaccine. Stay safe and protect other walkers.
